Constellations

March 2019- March 2021

Over 30 works from The Farjam Collection have been brought together in an exhibition of modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art entitled: CONSTALLATIONS.

The exhibition maps some of the brightest examples of modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art over the past century. Each piece tells a different story, making up a narrative that is as complex and rich as the history of the region over the same period. Exploring some of the defining styles and techniques in Middle Eastern art, such as the fusion of tradition and innovation as well as of stylistic influences from across the globe, the exhibition demonstrates the timelessness and the universal resonance of art from the Middle East. From the work of renowned masters Hussein Bicar and Manouchehr Yektai, to the cutting-edge pieces of Farhad Moshiri and Marwan Hedieh Shafei, the selected artists form a vivid picture of the region’s artistic landscape as one that defies predictable categorizations.

This exhibition is a candid overview of some of the artists whose stories, energies, and imaginations encourage us to think in new ways about the world around us.
